Biography
zangersheide (19K)

Karel was born and raised at the parental farm 'Eindhoeve', between the horses and the ponys. From a very early age on, he rode several of his father's (approved) pony stallions at the Landelijke Rijverenigingen, a federation for the equestrian sport in Flanders.

He has been very successful with -among others- the stallions Nantino (V. Nantano) and Oosthoek Floris (V. Priory Prickel).

During his education at the equestrian secondary school in Bilzen, Karel switched from ponys to horses.

Quite soon he won the confidence of Hubert Hamerlink (Stud Farm Van de Heffink), which meant he could ride Quel Homme van de Heffinck. Quel Homme van de Heffinck was trained by Karel up to level 1m40. In 2005, Quel Homme van de Heffinck became champion of Germany under René Tebbel.

In the following years, Karel acquiered broad international experience in the stables, under the supervision of Ludo Philippaerts (Stud Farm Dorperheide), Jos Lansink (Stud Farm Zangersheide), Neil Jones and "Stal de Ijzeren Man" in Weert (Holland).

He won several national and international victories up to 1m50 with -among others- Animo II Z (Animo x Akteur) and Peanuts Z (V. Paladin des Ifs), who is currently being ridden by Athina Onassis. In that period, he won the national Young Riders Championship no less than 8 times.

In 2004, Karel made the step to become independent and started his own training and trading stable.
